Change Country and Language in Amazon’s Mobile App

Unfortunately, it seems like Amazon has removed the option to change country and language from the mobile Amazon Shopping app, although this was previously available. Even so, you can still change these settings using one of two workarounds.

Each time you install the mobile app, Amazon will ask you to set your country and language. So one route you can try to change the language/region is to reinstall the Amazon app on your phone. Once you open the app again, you’ll be asked to set your region and language. Now set your preferences.

Remember, when setting your country/region, you’ll be limited to the Amazon store and marketplaces available in that region. For instance, items that are only sold and shipped in the U.S. won’t be listed if you chose the United Kingdom as your region.

The top section lists languages available in that specific region. However, you’ll also see a list of all languages available, though they’re only available in their respective regions. For example, when choosing Canada as your country/region, only English and French are available.

If you don’t feel like reinstalling the Amazon Shopping app every time you want to change region or language, try this alternative. Open your mobile browser and log in with your Amazon account.

Once in, press on the person-shaped icon in the upper right corner of the display.

Swipe all the way to the bottom of the right side menu and you should see the option to change the language as well as the country.

If you change the language, you’ll be able to continue browsing Amazon as usual in that language in your mobile browser.

Change Country and Language in Amazon on Desktop

On Amazon’s desktop/browser version, you can change the country and language whether you’re logged in or not: the process is the same either way.

Browse to Amazon.com or your desired regional version. Hover your mouse in the upper right corner of the display next to Hello, your name.

Now select a new language from the options available. If you also wish to change the region, click Change country/region at the bottom. Some languages might not be visible unless you select a specific region. For instance, there’s no French option in the screenshot above, but if you change the region to Canada, it will become available.

Change Country and Language in Amazon Alexa

Your Amazon Alexa device defaults to the country and language that match your current location and IP address. Although you can adjust this, some users report that changing the location might not always work correctly.

Open your Amazon Alexa app. Tap the More icon at the bottom right of the app.
